Club Profile

South Shields FC is an ambitious North East football club based in South Shields, Tyne and Wear, currently competing in the National League North, the sixth tier of English football. The modern club was reformed in 1974, with roots tracing back to 1888, and has built one of the stronger non-league platforms in the region. The club plays at the 1st Cloud Arena, a c.4,000-capacity stadium with recent infrastructure investment, including a new main stand opened in 2022. Located close to Newcastle and Sunderland, South Shields combines strong local identity, a loyal fanbase and access to a large regional football catchment. With recent ownership discussions involving an international investment group, the club has clear potential to build further on its National League North status and community base.
